Boogey Cream

03.07.11
This morning when I walked into Drake's room to get him up, I immediately smelled menthol.  I guess I didn't put the lid on tight enough last night and Drake obviously thought that he needed a little extra when he woke up this morning!  He dug out a huge glob from the jar and smeared it all over his nose, mouth and crib.  Luckily he didn't get any in his eyes.  I hate to think of how bad that would burn.  He was so proud of himself and was very concerned about the lid of the menthol.  He wouldn't let me clean him up until I looked for it.  He is still a bit obsessive about lids.  Gotta love my little boogey cream baby!

A Movie

03.05.11
On Saturday, we met up with the Eudis' for some play time and a movie.  We have only ever taken Drake to one movie (Toy Story 3) which he fell asleep in, so I wasn't exactly sure how he'd do in a dark place with lots of people around.  He can sit and watch movies at home, no problem, and as it turns out, watching movies at the theater is no different!  He loved it.  He alternated between his big boy booster, my lap and Chris' lap throughout the show but didn't make a peep.  When the show ended, he kept saying, "I watch Prince show again."  It was a really great afternoon with fun friends, delicious food from Malawi's, a darling Disney movie and my two favorite boys!
(We went to see Tangled and Chris informed me that it was a Prince show, not a Princess show because we have a son, not a daughter.)

I married a red-neck...

Tonight, just like most nights of the week, my lover boy is watching his favorite shows.  I'm sure this is pretty common in most households however, my husband's line up is pretty hilarious... Ax Men, Deadliest Catch, Swamp People, Swamp Loggers, Gold Rush Alaska, Storm Chasers and Son's of Guns.  There are a few others in the line-up as well, but these are the funniest.  Not all of them are on right now but don't you worry, he gets really excited every time a new one starts up.  Just a few minutes ago he made sure to show me that Swamp People is coming back on this month.  Swamp People is BY FAR the worst, with Axe Men coming in at a close second!  I do have to admit, I watch all of the shows with him and am pretty fascinated by all those strange individuals and their jobs, but I'm definitely not as into them as my man.  Who knew... I married a bit of a red-neck!

Te-Te

This incredible lady is one of the very best people I know.  She is the sweetest, most thoughtful, compassionate, sincere,  loving, and self-less person I know!  She has not only been my aunt for 28 years but has been one of my best friends and constant example of self-less love.  I am so grateful to have her in my life.  She has taught me so much about how to be a genuinely good person and how to find the good in every situation.  She is truly an angel in my life and I will forever cherish the memories we have and the many more that we will make.  I'm so grateful that my little son has had the opportunity to get to know and love his Te-Te and can't wait for her to come back to play with us!

We LOVE you Tet!  Thank you, thank you for coming to stay with us.  We miss you every day and are counting the days until you can come back!  Big asks me, "where'd Te-Te go?" multiple times a day!
Love you! xoxo

Randoms...

I feel like life has been a little crazy and stressful lately.  I'm feeling pretty uptight about my school situation, which in turn is making everything seem a bit more hectic.  I'm super concerned about my grades this semester because I am planning to apply to one nursing program in a week and to another in August.  I am typically a good student and usually enjoy most of my classes but for some reason my one class this semester is not going as well as planned.  Chemistry is just not for me.  I am horrible at it!  I've decided that my chemo must have fried my brain more than I realized because oh man... I am just not getting it or retaining what I do manage to figure out.  I'm sure taking an online chem class was not the smartest, given the fact that I didn't learn one darn thing in my high school chem class, but it was the best option for a mom.  I have to say though, I'm kind of paying the price for the convenience, but hopefully I can pull it together and finish up with a decent grade.
(today this seems doubtful, but I might surprise myself!)

Drake has been a funny little monkey lately.  I have been such a slacker and haven't even finished his Two Year post yet but I really need to.  He has changed so much over the last few months.  He comes up with some funny stuff these days.  His latest is telling me, "no, I'm good," when I ask him if he wants something.  I need to get it on video.  It's priceless!

Life for Chris is about the same.  Work, driving to STG, and school.  He is still making the weekly trek to STG for class and is getting really sick of it. (who wouldn't, after a year of doing it!)
He is scheduled to be done with class in June and will officially graduate in December.
We are counting down the days.
I am so dang proud of him for buckling down and getting it done.
He has spent hundreds of hours in the car and in the classroom over this last year and very rarely complains.  I don't know how he does it, but I am sure grateful that he will have it done and under his belt soon.

February pictures...

One morning as I was walking down the stairs to get Drake out of bed, I heard him say, "I get out mom."  He typically plays in his crib for at least 10-15 minutes before I get him up and usually says some pretty funny things.  I didn't think much of what he had said until I walked in and this is what I found.  Luckily, my camera was right outside his door so I was able to catch him in action!  He never got his leg over any farther than this, but I know he can.  He's climbed out once six months ago, but he hasn't attempted it since.  Hopefully he remains too afraid to try any harder!
I am so not ready for a big boy bed.

If you were to come to my house tomorrow morning around 8:30 am, this is what you would find.  Biggie Boy, Mic and Min, all in their "bots" on my bed watching Mic on TV.  It's quite the ritual.  We do this very same thing every single morning.  On the weekends, daddy gets to have a bot on the bed too.  It's pretty great!

The last time we went to the Lehi Pool, Big discovered the lockers.
They were a perfect size for hiding in.

Chris keeps all of his watches and sunglasses in an organizer on his nightstand.  A month or so ago, Big discovered that he could reach everything and now likes to wear all of
daddy's watches at least once a day.

For Valentine's Day this year, we kept things pretty low key.  Biggie was happy about his Valentine's basket from mommy and daddy, I was thrilled about my pedicure gift card and roses that my lover gave me and Chris was beyond excited about his Valentine's present from me... a new Apple product, one of which he has wanted for a good long while.

Drake Weaver is a fishy! Our last visit to the pool lasted for over three hours and he was not ready to go when it was time.  He cried all the way into the locker room and wasn't happy until he discovered the lockers.  He is fearless around the water and I'm pretty sure that the life guards thought he was going to drowned on more than one occasion.

The Disney Store that is my son's crib!  The newest additions to the family are Kitty and Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc.  Every "guy" has to have their certain bot.  I had to take out the bumpers to make room for all the guys.  It was just too tight in there.  In addition to the guys,  the cut binki and the jar of "boogey cream," have to be on the edge of the crib.  The boogey cream has to be applied to Big's nose and "tummy" (his chest) every night too.  I'm not kidding when I say that my little son is a creature of habit and his habits seem to develop much more quickly than most!  A few nights with a stuffy nose and the vapor rub has led to an every night ordeal.

A ton of work...

...but so very worth it!
I really should have kept track of how many hours it took me to complete these three books because it seemed like it took FOREVER!  All combined, I created 650 pages to document our lives for the last six years.  The sad thing is that I only have 75 pages of pictures from 2004 to 2008 and 575 from 2009-2010!  Kind of comical really but just how I like it!  It's hard to remember our lives before Drake.  2009 and 2010 have been our happiest years, by far, so why not have thousands of pictures from each!?  I am SO glad that I finally dug in and got these done.  Thanks to Emily, Kristen and Groupon's deadline, I now have our history sitting on my table!  I smile and tell myself "good job" every time I see them sitting there!  Now... if only I can keep up on 2011!  It's only the end of February and I'm already behind.

Biggie Boy is TWO!!

[01.29.11]

This year for Drake's birthday party, we decided to go with all things Mickey.  He has been a Mickey lover for quite some time and when asked what kind of party he wanted, his reply was always, "a mickey party!"  We decided to keep it rather small and simple this year due to last year's orneriness and I am so glad we did.  He was so much happier this year and had a great time playing with everyone and didn't cry at all.  The biggest hit of the day, hands down, were the Mickey and Minnie balloons.  Tet ran to the store to grab a few last things for us on the day of the party and returned with Mic and Min.  Drake was in heaven!  He ran around with those balloons all night and for weeks afterwards. We were so fortunate to have so many of our wonderful family with us to celebrate the babe's birthday.  Tet flew in all the way from Ohio, mom and dad and Rhys and Pam drove up from STG and Grandma and Mike came down from SLC.  The sibs were here, of course... we love having them so close! All in all, it was a really great night!  Drake was in a super good mood, even with a house full of people and we all had fun watching him run from toy to toy!

The After Party

After the party was cleaned up, we all headed downstairs to play the Wii.  B & B brought it along so we could have some Mario Cart tournaments and Big was not about to miss out on the action, cupcake mouth and all! The concentration on the faces of B and Lissa are classic!  It was a pretty intense race, obviously!
