September 12 adventure

A few weeks ago we decided to venture up to Kolob to try to find the "Weaver Family Cabin." We weren't successful in finding the cabin, but we did make it to the reservoir and spent a little time throwing stones and walking around. Drake was fascinated by the water, as always, and was very interested in each stone that Chris picked up to toss in the lake. Drake also thought that the splash from the stone was pretty darn funny! I took a million pictures in just a few short minutes, but it was too precious to miss! And... let's not overlook the fact that my son's knees are still chubby as ever! Every time I see a picture with his little knees in it, I laugh. I'm not sure where he got those babies, but they are super sweet and oh so kissable!

I love that you can see the clouds reflecting in his eyes, I just wish the bottle wasn't in the picture!

His first car

On Friday night we had dinner with the Dana's at their house and decided to try Mr. Big in Nathan's little car. We had never put him in something like it and lo and behold he loved it! So... being the "I need it now" type of person that I am, I ran right out to Wal-Mart on Saturday and got Mr. Big one of his own! Even though my babe looks way more like a kid than a baby in it, I love it and can't wait to push him around the neighborhood!
** This is the first official toy purchase that Chris and I have made for our own baby! All of his other toys have been given as gifts. We had a good time walking through the isles and pointing at things that the babe would love. We are going to have to restrain ourselves at Christmas time! Being a mom is so great!

He sleeps!

So... after a two month battle, this is all it took! Two binks on each side and one in the mouth! Honestly, how ridiculous, but if it works, I'll take it! Wish I would have tried this before I spent the entire week in Hawaii awake all night!
Love the babe like crazy, but oh how nice it is to be back to the normal sleep schedule.
8:00 pm to 9:00 am ROCKS!

Labor Day

We had a great Labor Day weekend! Our little family joined my parents and Aunt Bird and Uncle Bear up in Brianhead for a little mountain retreat. The weather was fabulous, the babe was cute as ever and the Frisbee Golf was pure comedy!

First encounter with wood. Not too sure about it!

The golfers
Brian, was of course the fearless leader, and had to fish his frisbee out of the ditches every time! Chris always had good distance with his throws, but could never quite get the frisbee to land where he wanted it. Bird and Bear were the best golfers! They spent the least amount of time in the bushes!

Bird and Bear humored me and agreed to take a few family pictures of us. I have thousands of pictures of the babe but very few of the three of us. We only spent maybe fifteen minutes and managed to get some cute ones. Thanks again Bird and Bear!! We love them!

And this is for Uncle Colburn!
This was Drake's first time wearing the sweatshirt. Isn't it so cute!? When Bird saw it, the first thing she said was that it reminded her of you! Funny huh?! We hadn't even told her that it was from the Colburns! Thank you, thank you! We love it!

We had a great few days! A big thanks to Momma and Poppa Moose for taking care of us, as always! We love you!

Aloha!

I am happy to report that the much anticipated, "Weaver Family Hawaiian vacation," was a complete success! We had such a wonderful week with the fam and can't thank Momma and Poppa Weave enough! Our condo was "to die for," the weather couldn't have been better, the Big Little was a champ and I even managed to come back with a bit more color than I arrived with. (not a lot, but a bit!) It was a fabulous week and we were all sad to say good-bye to the lovely land of Hawaii.

The pics... lots of them!

I got a bit carried away taking pictures of the babe. I have over a thousand from this trip and most of them don't have anyone else in them except Drake! I'm not quite sure why I think I need so many pictures of the boy, but I just can't help myself!

Without the help of Benadryl, Drake only slept for about three of the six hours of the flight to Hawaii. Luckily, he was super good while awake. He watched his shows, played with grandma and grandpa, laid on the floor and played with wrappers and ate treats. It was a long six hours, but it surely could have been worse!

Our beach was the neatest little lagoon. The rock breaks kept most of the waves out so it was perfect for the babe. He loves the water!

This is how we nap in Hawaii.

Oh... the sand was glorious and ever so tasty! Drake loved it and didn't seem to mind the taste, at all! I probably shouldn't have let him eat it, but he was happy, so I laughed and took pictures instead!

Swimming with daddy was a favorite!

Doesn't look appetizing to me, but he loved it! Oh course! He would dip the licorice in the sad before every bit. It really was pretty gross but again, he was having a good ol' time so I certainly wasn't going to stop him!

The North Shore. The temple is closed right now for 18 months. The grounds were so beautiful but it would have been neat to do a session. Maybe someday. We also stopped at one of the roadside shrimp shacks for lunch. Pam and Nick weren't too impressed, but the rest of us loved it!

The beautiful grounds outside our condo. The pools were fabulous and were well used by all of us. There weren't very many other guests while we were there so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. I loved it!

On Friday we went on a little hike to Moana Falls. The waterfalls weren't super spectacular, but the hike was so cool. The vegetation was incredible! I have never seen such big leaves! There were some that were easily bigger than my whole body! Drake loved it too! He loves to be carried in the pack and had a blast laughing at Chris as he was trying to make his way down the trail without slipping. The sunglasses were by far my favorite part though! What a cool dude!

Drake had his first taste of pineapple and loved it! Grandpa let him gnaw on it until is was pretty much nothing and he was in heaven!

The last night in the sand.

Trying to get a Christmas card shot of the whole fam. It was a bit of a struggle.

The last sunset. We truly had such a fun week and can't wait to go back!

Seven months!

Holy smokes!! Another month come and gone and each month as I sit down to create this post, I have to remind myself to be happy and enjoy each new thing instead of being sad because my baby is growing up too fast! If only I could press pause on life and press play again when I am ready to move on to a new stage! Anyway... this last month has been full of fun! My little Drake is becoming quite the character. He has learned lots of new things lately and is always entertaining to watch!

Things to remember about Drake at {SEVEN} months:

* He growls like a little animal. He's not big into cooing like most babies. He prefers to growl and grunt. It's hilarious, especially when he does it in his sleep.

* He is a champ with the bottle and can down 6-8 ounces in no time and he STILL cries when it's gone. The kid would eat all day if I let him.

* He likes everything. He hasn't fussed about any kind of baby food and will eat anything you put in front of him. He can hold all of his little biscuit treats and loves to gnaw on them until they are complete mush.

* He has started to throw tantrums while I'm feeding him if I take too long to open the baby food after he's already eaten his rice. He screeches and wails and will clench his fists and shake. What seven month old does that!?!

* He still hates being on his tummy and has yet to officially roll from back to tummy. He rolls from side to side no problem and usually sleeps on his side now.

* He always, always gets his left arm out of his swaddle at night. Sometimes the right arm will sneak out too, but the left arm is a given.

* He still cries in the night when he realizes his binky isn't in his mouth. AHHH!

* When he drinks his bottle, he twists it from side to side and makes funny noises.

* He puts both hands in the air all the time and looks like Superman. He usually grunts and growls while doing it.

* He is still toothless.

* He would rather play with pretty much anything except his baby toys. He'll play with dog toys that look just like baby toys, but when you try to trade him for the clean toys, he cries. And no, I don't let him play with the dog toys but sometimes Reggie sneaks one in there!

* He loves to play in the sand and he could care less if he gets a mouthful of it.

* He still loves his "shows" and he gets excited when you ask him if he wants to watch shows.

* He is still a momma's boy.

* He is in between sizes of clothes right now. The 3-6 are really too short but the 6-12 are still huge. He wears plain white onesies a lot because they fit and it's too dang hot to wear really clothes!

* He is super ticklish.

* When he's really tired he laughs at pretty much anything. He will crack up at the dumbest things!

* He loves to be sung to. When he's fussy I end up singing him every little song I can think of until he quiets. His favorite is still Popcorn Popping but he loves pretty much any song or funny noise.

* He loves other kids.

* He loves his "big boy" car seat and is so much happier in it.

* He reaches for everything and will yank things off the selves at stores if I'm not careful.

* He loves to sit in the cart at the store. He looks back and forth the entire time, trying not to miss anything!

* He has the funkiest ears. I have to squirt Hydrogen Peroxide in them every night during his bath to keep them from getting really bad. No ear infections so far, but they are still yucky.

* He fell and hit his head really hard the other day and has the first of many goose eggs.

* He is my everything and brings new meaning to life, every single day!

Love him!!
